Anecdote Introduction

Welcome to the Martin Anecdote page (I link that in case some of us don't know what that word means). Let's capture some amusing stories about ourselves. It's best if these are told by the ones who were there that remember it best. For example, I've heard lots about my Dad and his brothers but I won't tell them second hand, I will leave it to one of them to relate it.

  1. Well, since Russ started this it's appropriate for me to begin my contribution by telling one on him. Lot's of golfers score "birdies" and are proud of them (like I am of bogies), but Russ doesn't say much about the one he shot recently. His poor victim was a large goose who happened to be strolling along the shore of the pond which Russ's tee shot had to cross on it's way to the next Green. Witnesses described the shot as a low line-drive which barely skimmed the surface of the water and nailed Mr Goose on the side of his head. Those of us who like to blame luck for Russ's knack of beating us at sports (Golf, Pool, Horseshoes, etc.), have long knick-named him "Gladstone Gander", after Donald Duck's lucky cousin. How ironic that poor Gladstone should meet his doom at the hands of his namesake.
